Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda.........

After the NRA made there first public "Rally Cry" following our latest mass shooting, this one involving 20 babies, I felt really sad. Not because of the irresponsible things that Wayne LaPierre said but rather that America is still, going into the year 2103, so divided. Now don't get me wrong I'm not naive I didn't expect any high ranking member of the NRA, never mind its leader, to come right out and say we should ban all assault weapons, but to blatantly call for more weapons and to imply arming our schools and  armoring our children was the answer...I honestly was a little queasy.

Anyone who takes the time to really look at Sandy Hook, politics and religious beliefs aside, will agree that this latest horrific act sheds light on many of our current social issues. From mental health to violence in social mediums, from the fractured American family to school bullying, from questioning our current 2nd amendmant rights to looking at school security. I mean if something as horrible as what just happened doesn't stimulate positive social reform or at least the ability to talk about it...nothing will.

I agree with your views. For someone to be naive enough to suggest that putting more guns into people's hands will solve the problem is disturbing. I don't believe that it is right to suggest something so primitive when the incident is so painful. It is not something that should be taken lightly.
I don't understand how such a prominent issue could be so "hard" to solve. Something obviously needs to change with the way guns are handled. How is it that things as destructive as assault rifles are allowed to be sold with such little precaution? Isn't this irresponsible? The issue is so present that having doubts cannot be an obstacle. Children are dying.
